Charities experience many of the same pressures as businesses and even though the sector is not-for-profit it can still feel extremely competitive.
It’s vitally important to retain a positive public profile and maintain good relationships with existing supporters and it can be difficult to plan for future development when income is unpredictable.
Charity managers also face demands unique to the sector; not least in motivating and managing a changing roster of volunteer staff who have commitment but varying levels of skills and experience.
